Our MSc International Business degree is open to graduates from any discipline, and will equip you with a comprehensive understanding of relevant and current international issues, giving you the opportunity to take your career anywhere in the world.

Postgraduate Loans for Masters students

If you're an English-resident, or EU student, you may be eligible for a loan to study a taught or research Masters in any subject. You can get up to:

  • £10,906, if your course starts on or after 1 August 2019
  • £10,609, if your course started between 1 August 2018 and 31 July 2019
  • £10,280, if your course started between 1 August 2017 and 31 July 2018

The amount you’ll get is not based on you or your family’s income. The loan is paid directly to you. You can use it for your course fees and living costs. If your course lasts for more than a year, the loan will be divided equally across each year of your course.

The UK Government has confirmed that EU students will continue to be eligible for 'home fee status' for entry in September 2020, and will continue to have access to eligible financial support via the Postgraduate Masters or Doctoral loan for the duration of their course. Our Standard Requirements

A good Honours degree (2:1 or higher) or postgraduate diploma from a UK university or equivalent. 

24 month flexible route

This course is also offered in a 24-month format. Applicants with a 2.2 bachelor’s honours degree or overseas equivalent may be eligible for the 24-month version of this course. The first year of the 24-month course involves completing our Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA) programme, which will provide you with a broad foundation of knowledge in business disciplines.  On successful completion of this first year with a grade average of 60% or higher, you would be able to proceed directly onto the 12-month MSc International Business programme beginning in the following September.

International Students

Standard English language requirements apply (IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band).


IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band is equivalent to:

  • TOEFL: 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): PTE Academic 59 in all four skills
  • Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced – minimum overall score of 176, with no less than 169 in any component

Our MSc International Business degree draws on the talents of internationally respected scholars and highly respected teachers. Their expertise covers globalisation, the international aspects of accounting and finance, corporate governance, human resource management, marketing, organisation of multinational corporations, operations and procurement, and strategy. Regional specialists with expertise on Africa, China, Europe and Latin America also teach on the programme. 

Our Masters in International Business has been accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). The accreditation, aimed at Pre-Experience Masters in General Management (PEMM), takes into account criteria such as the breadth of the syllabus, the quality of teaching staff, careers support available and the inclusion of a research dissertation. This accreditation aims to safeguard standards of excellence and ensure clarity about the purpose of various general management qualifications in an increasingly competitive market.

A high-class learning environment

As a postgraduate student, you will have access to our award-winning £10 million postgraduate teaching space, the Alan Walters Building. This will provide you with access to facilities of the highest quality, including a state-of-the-art lecture theatre, dedicated computer clusters and seminar rooms as well as communal areas for studying and group work, which will look out over the University's ambitious Green Heart development, due to be completed in 2019.

Assessment Methods

Taught modules contribute towards two thirds of your final assessment. The dissertation contributes one third. Modules are assessed using written examinations and coursework. Coursework can take a variety of forms, including reports, essays, group presentations and practical assignments. Some coursework is group based.
