Our MSc Investments will provide you with a strong theoretical grounding that draws inspiration from contemporary research and industry practices from across the globe.

You will develop the critical, analytical and technical skills required to function as an investment specialist in global financial markets, along with soft skills such as teamwork, adaptability, leadership, time management, communication, work ethics, and cross-cultural awareness.

You will be able to visit the Exchange and attend a training session on how trading takes place on the London Stock Exchange and other equity markets
  • You have the opportunity to take part in the award-winning Future Leaders Certificate. This extra-curricular programme helps you prepare for the Future of Work by giving you the chance to work on an exciting virtual live project set by a multi-national company. The certificate enables you to better understand the impact technology is having on the business world and the implications for your own career
  • This course has been accepted into the CFA Institute University Recognition Programme. This status is granted to institutions whose degree programme incorporates at least 70 per cent of the CFA Programme Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), which provides a solid grounding in the CBOK and prepares you well for CFA exams

Modules

We offer a comprehensive and rigorous education in the theory of investment and finance alongside advanced level management and business training. Modules focus on specialised areas of investment such as investment banking, fund management, security analysis and valuation, trading techniques, financial modelling, financial risk management and venture financing.

Postgraduate Loans for Masters students

Please note that the loan amounts listed below are for 2020 entry. Up to date loan amounts will be published here in due course, as they are made available.

UK students looking to pursue a Masters programme in the UK can apply for a non-means-tested loan from the British government via the Student Loans Company (SLC).  You can get up to:

  • £11,222 if your course starts on or after 1 August 2020
  • £10,906 if your course started between 1 August 2019 and 31 July 2020
  • £10,609 if your course started between 1 August 2018 and 31 July 2019

The amount you’ll get is not based on you or your family’s income. The loan is paid directly to you. You can use it for your course fees and living costs. If your course lasts for more than a year, the loan will be divided equally across each year of your course.

How To Apply

1 July 2021 is the application deadline for international students (Tier 4) who wish to study in the United Kingdom. We are not able to consider applications for 2021 made after this date. The deadline for Home (non-Tier 4) students is 31 August 2021.

Our selected admissions process

A staged admissions process is in place for this programme. This means that when you apply, your application will be considered with all others that have been submitted before the deadline. Therefore you might not hear from us with a decision on your application until a few weeks after the deadline has been reached. This enables us to ensure that all applications are considered fairly and equally. When you apply please ensure that you submit all of your supporting documents including an English language proficiency certificate (if English is not your first language) if you have one.

Our Standard Requirements

A good Honours degree (2:1 or higher) or postgraduate diploma from a UK university or equivalent. The degree must be in a relevant subject and/or applicants must have obtained good grades in mathematical related modules at undergraduate level.

GCE A-Level grade C or better or overseas equivalent in mathematics can be considered for meeting the mathematical module requirement. If you would like A Level (or equivalent) mathematics to be considered as part of your application, please upload evidence of these results when making an application. We can only consider these qualifications if they are submitted as part of the admissions application.

International Students

Standard English language requirements apply (IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band).


IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band is equivalent to:

  • TOEFL: 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): PTE Academic 67 in all four skills
  • Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced or Proficiency – minimum overall score of 185, with no less than 176 in any component

Assessment Methods

Future Leaders Certificate

The postgraduate Future Leaders Certificate, run by the Business School’s Careers in Business team, is an extra-curricular programme which is designed to prepare our MSc students for the potential impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). This is intended to equip students with the skills they need to stand out and succeed within this increasingly competitive market. As part of this, students will be encouraged to increase their awareness of responsible business and ethical considerations.

The Certificate culminates in our Gold Award, where students will receive expert coaching, mentoring and industry insight, and work on a group project set by multi-national companies which place high importance on their social and corporate responsibility.
