Join the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Apprenticeship Programme and develop your skills as a senior healthcare leader.

The Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Apprenticeship programme provides the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for leaders from all backgrounds, clinical and non-clinical, to create a more capable and compassionate healthcare system. The apprenticeship is designed to holistically develop the capabilities, skills, expertise, attitudes and behaviours to support each learner in leading teams to create tangible and positive performance improvement at the front line.

This programme will expose you to underpinning theories and empirical evidence, while also requiring you to apply your learning and to reflect on this application to aide your leadership development and practice as a senior healthcare leader.

Through the programme you will explore themes that support your development of self, teams and organisations to:

  • ensure patients have excellent quality and safe experiences
  • understand how you make a difference to an improved patient experience
  • enable others to give their best to improve the patient experience
  • embed behaviours that improve the patient experience
  • inspire person-centred coordinated care
  • make decisions based upon the best available evidence to improve the patient experience

This programme is for you if you are:

  • A middle to senior level leader currently responsible for others and aspiring to lead large and complex programmes, departments, services, or systems of care, or
  • A middle leader, aspiring to take on a more senior role while at the same time, looking to have a wider impact by leading a culture of compassion
  • The programme will allow you to explore the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours that are important for leading others when building a culture of patient-centred care within the healthcare system.

The programme offers: 

  • Flexible mode of delivery through a blend of online modular learning and face to face delivery
  • Membership of the Institute of Leadership and Management for the duration of the course and one year afterwards as either a Chartered Manager or Chartered Fellow
  • Full levy-funding compliance with advice and guidance from our Degree Apprenticeship team

The Anderson Senior Leader Level 7 Apprenticeship, will allow you to gain a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) funded by the Apprenticeship Levy. On successful completion of the PgDip, you will have the opportunity to gain a MSc in Healthcare Leadership. Please contact us for further details.

Fees

The Apprenticeship will be paid for through your employer, there will be no costs incurred by you.

All employers who have a payroll over £3 million pay an Apprenticeship Levy. They can use this levy to fund your enrolment on the programme.

Our Standard Requirements

  • A first degree at a 2:2 or above and 3 years relevant managerial experience or
  • A first degree below a 2.2 or no degree and 5 years plus relevant managerial experience.

It is a further requirement of an Apprenticeship Programme that you have English and Maths qualifications at GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications. If you do not have GCSE grades but are prepared to study for and complete these whilst on the programme you can still apply.

 

International Requirements


The Anderson Senior Leader Apprenticehip programme is a two-and-a-half-year programme delivered through a combination of on-line learning and face to face workshops (13 days in total) and face to face small action learning sets (10 in total). All face-to-face delivery will be in a locally accessible venue with exact dates to be confirmed via a full calendar covering the entire programme.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship we offer you the opportunity to achieve a full Masters level qualification via completion of a 60 credit dissertation. The cost of completing the Masters which is £3,500 can be funded by the employer or individual, or a combination of both.
