Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (TMO) is a world leader in providing products and service to solve complex analytical challenges, improve patient diagnostics and increase laboratory productivity.
TMO has research laboratory, POPs Centre of Excellent and Mass Spectrometry R&D facilities. It has a strong, long-standing commitment to delivering training to the science community that is exemplified by the POPs research centre that lead TMO’s activities within ELUTE.
TMO annually delivers several hundred applications and instrument training courses throughout Europe via there team of expert applications specialists. They also host educational webinars, and an Annual International POPs Sumposium.

University of Birmingham
The University of Birmingham is a leading research-led UK university. It is ranked 12th in the UK overall (out of 159 institutions) ) in the Research Fortnight University Power Ranking, based on the quality and quantity of its research output. The university is ranked 77th in the QS world university (2012/13) and 99th in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University World Rankings (2010).
The University of Birmingham will be the coordinating organisation via its College of Life and Environmental Sciences. It has a modern administrative and project management infrastructure and extensive experience of successful implementation of EC-funded projects. In particular, the coordinator will be Professor Stuart Harrad, who co-ordinates the current ITN project INFLAME. Principal host to ESR10 and ESR11, will host secondments from ESRs 3, 7, 8, and 9, as well as ER3. University of Birmingham will also provide training in indoor dust sampling to the majority of A-TEAM trainees.

UK Food Standards Agency (FSA)
The Food Standards Agency is a non-ministerial government department responsible for food safety policy and enforcement on behalf of the UK government. FSA places strong emphasis on the need for good scientific evidence to underpin its advice, with an annual expenditure of approximately £25million on research funding.
The FSA continues to commission research into chemical contamination of food. Dr David Mortimer manages the section of this portfolio that relates to persistent organic chemicals and has particular interests in BFRs and PBDD/Fs making regular presentations on the findings of these projects at major international symposia.

Centre for Environment, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Sciences (Cefas)
Cefas is an executive agency of the UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. It is a marine science agency which attracts about 50% of its funding from its parent department, including that won competitively.
Cefas has two main laboratories and an ocean-going research vessel, as well as marine sampling expertise and equipment, up-to-date analytical facilities utilising pressurised liquid extraction and automated solvent evaporation.

Centre for Environmental Change Research (UCL)
UCL is a leading research-led UK university. It is ranked 3rd in the UK overall (out of 159 institutions) in the Research Fortnight University Power Ranking, based on the quality and quantity of its research output. UCL is ranked 7th in the QS world university (2011).
UCL has substantial expertise in lake sediment core sampling including the training in such activities. They are also the UK’s principal centre for radiometric dating of sediment cores to provide chronologies for other analyses.
