Professor Zude Zhou is a Chief Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering at Wuhan University of Technology. He is also a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of Society of Manufacturing Engineers. His other roles include Senior Member of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Standing Director of Chinese Automotive Engineering Society, Honorary President of Hubei Society of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Member of CIRP, the International Academy for Production Engineering, etc.

Distinguished for his seminal work in Digital Manufacturing, Professor Zhou's innovative researches include CNC machine tool control and advanced manufacturing technology, and his wide-ranging engineering contributions to the steel, automotive, heavy-duty machine construction and shipbuilding industries in China, as well as his inspiring leadership of a major academic institution and thriving research team. Due to his creative activities and significant achievements in mechanical and manufacturing engineering, Professor Zhou received the honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering (h.c.), University of Birmingham in 2015, and won the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Engineering in 2017 and the IEEE Distinguished Academic Leadership Award in 2014 respectively. Moreover, he also has obtained a series of scientific research achievements, 4 of them have achieved the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Awards, together with more than 10 achievements rewarded as the Provincial/Ministerial Advancement Awards.

So far, Professor Zhou has published over 300 papers in academic journals and conferences, and he has also published more than 10 monographs. Professor Zhou has undertaken several major research projects, including the Major Project and the Major International (Regional) Joint Research Program of National Science Foundation of China, the International Cooperation Project of Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the National Key Scientific and Technological Project, etc.
