Call for Abstracts!

NEW extended deadline = 5 June 2025
Outcome abstract submission = 10 June 2025

We welcome submissions from academic research innovators across campus and clinicians from our NHS Trust partners.  Our goal is to highlight translational research and innovation from across the university, covering a diverse range of research topics and innovations.

Hosted by the Translational Research Team (TRT), this annual event is an excellent opportunity for academics and clinicians to network, initiate new collaborations, and engage with advisors supporting translation.

This year's program aims to unite the University of Birmingham translational community across campus, clinicians, advisers, and professional services supporting translation. The event will feature:

  • oral scientific and poster presentations
  • poster competition with voucher prizes
  • a workshop and round table discussion on ‘From Idea to Regulatory Approval’ delivered by our translation Expert-in-Residence David Fox (Vulpine Science and Learning), Rita Hendricusdottir (CEO and founder, RegMetrics) and Richard Hall (Director QMS Consultancy Ltd)
  • An inspirational keynote address from University of Birmingham Alumni Mark Cobbold, an innovator clinical immunologist and currently Senior Vice-President for Immuno-Oncology Discovery & Cell Therapy at Astrazeneca.
  • drinks reception to close the day.

Abstract Submission

Abstract submission is via email to translationalresearch@contacts.bham.ac.uk with ‘Abstract TR Symposium – your Surname’ as subject.

Abstracts will be accepted based on the level of innovation and scientific importance, relevance to the symposium topic (translational research in healthcare) and overall quality (writing, organisation and clarity of the text). We aim to showcase translational research from across the university and on a variety of research topics and innovations.

Register now, submit an abstract and be an active contributor to this exciting day!
