R User group

R is a versatile and widely used programming language developed for data analysis and visualisation. R offers a more powerful and customisable way to analyse and present data than conventional statistical programs.

The R programming language is suited to a wide variety of tasks ranging from simple statistical analysis to complex modelling - all from a diverse range of sources and formats. The R programming language is also complimented by a large number of packages for domain specific analysis such as bioinformatics, geography, social sciences, business and more! Making it a useful tool for any researcher.

History of the R user group: The organising committee (made up of researchers and staff from the university) is enthusiastic about encouraging the use of the R programming language and want to encourage its use across the university, at every skill level.

What to expect: The R user group is intended to be a space for anyone interested in the R programming language, from beginners to advanced users, to develop their skills and broaden their knowledge in a welcoming environment. The organising committee is planning regular events featuring interactive sessions to hone your data wrangling and presentation skills using unique and interesting datasets in an informal setting as well as regular talks covering a wide range of topics from guest speakers and group members.

Teams: To get involved and stay informed you can join the Teams group today: R User Group | Research Computing and Data Community | Microsoft Teams

Mailing list: As well as the Teams channel the following mailing list has been created to keep you up to date on activities, updates, and general news from the R user group.
