Dr Dipak Kotecha awarded the 2018 Michael Davies Early Career Award
Dr Dipak Kotecha, a clinican-scientist within the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, was awarded the prestigious Michael Davies Early Career Award for contribution to Clinical and Cardiovascular Science at the British Cardiovascular Society's annual awards held in June.
The award honours clinical and non-clinical researchers who have recently established themselves as independent investigators and who have made, and are making, an outstanding contribution to cardiovascular medicine.
Dr Kotecha, who is also a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in cardiac imaging and holds a prestigious National Institute for Health Research Fellowship, works with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) on the Education Committee, and helped to write the 2016 ESC Guidelines for the Management of Atrial Fibrillation.
Dr Kotecha's research focuses on the interaction of heart failure and atrial fibrillation, and he has published in leading journals such as the Lancet, BMJ, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the European Heart Journal. He has a particular interest in trial methodology, robust statistical evaluation, big data approaches and novel technology, such as mobile applications and wearable devices.
