BhamXR is an interdisciplinary network at the University of Birmingham advancing immersive technologies and virtual worlds. Our expertise spans Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality (VR/AR/MR), virtual worlds, telepresence, avatars, digital identity, and emerging technologies like AI-generated environments and spatial computing.

Our growing ecosystem of facilities

The VR Lab provides a dedicated environment for the development virtual, augmented, and mixed reality applications, supporting both experimental prototypes and user-focused studies.

The Collaborative Teaching Laboratory (CTL) maintains a suite of VR headsets and immersive technologies to support teaching, experimentation, and hands-on learning.

The Birmingham Transformative Humanities Lab offers flexible workstations equipped with motion-capture, VR, and eye-tracking technology, alongside editing suites and behavioural research facilities.
