Sustainability research in action

BISCA spans the interfaces between research, policy, and practical action to address today’s sustainability and climate change challenges. By integrating evidence, expertise, and diverse perspectives, we help decision-makers navigate complexity and take informed, forward-looking action.
As global climate discussions gathered pace, the University of Birmingham published a series of evidence-informed policy briefs, launched during COP30 in Belém, Brazil, translating interdisciplinary research into practical action. Developed through the Birmingham Institute for Sustainability & Climate Action (BISCA) and the Brazil Institute (UBBI) the reports set out clear national and international recommendations across resilience, education, energy transition, climate justice, health and finance.
