Cities, Regions and Mobility

The Cities, Regions, and Mobility theme encompasses the work of political and social geographers as well as urban and regional planners. It focuses on examining processes in both urban and rural settings and the dynamics of population mobility, including migration.
Our research examines a range of issues relevant to planning decisions, including spatial and strategic planning, urbanity and well-being, and planning and development in the Global South. It also explores intersections with political issues, including how cities are affected by war and conflicts, and the social inclusion of migrants.
Members of this area of research contribute to the social and political impact by engaging with local communities and national and international policymakers.
