Theory and Research in Education
Since 2003, Theory and Research in Education (TRE) has served as a forum for theoretical discussions of topics in education and, over the course of the two decades since, it has published lively considerations of educational questions drawing from such disciplinary standpoints as philosophy, sociology, history, economics, psychology and law. Along the way, we sought to foster interdisciplinary dialogue between educational theorists, researchers, practitioners and policy makers. Today, our journal specializes in publishing essays in the philosophy of education in the analytic tradition. It also publishes empirical papers from the other educational foundations disciplines that shed light on prominent debates in analytic philosophy of education. The journal's impact factor is 1.3 and its five year impact factor is 2.3.TRE's 20th anniversary virtual special issue, published in 2021, outlines the editorial team's vision for the journal and showcases the range and quality of work we have published in the journal's first 20 years. It also includes an outline by the editor-in-chief, Ben Kotzee, outlining the journal's editorial stance.
