STAR-TREC is a phase II feasibility study which aims to recruit 4 patients per month internationally in the first year (n=48), increasing to 6 per month in year 2 (n=72). The overall recruitment target for this phase II feasibility study is 120 patients. The study will then transition to phase III with the aim to recruit a further 280 patients internationally in 4 years. Overall target recruitment for STAR-TREC (phase II + phase III) is 400 patients.

Current Status

The first patient was randomised into STAR-TREC at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on the 14-Jun-2017.

STAR-TREC is open at 27 clinical centres in the UK (14), The Netherlands (11) and Denmark (2).

To date our centres have recruited 82 of the 120 patients required.

Current Recruitment

STAR-TREC has recruited more than 60% of the 120 patients required for the feasibility stage of the trial.  The graphs below show recruitment by country and by clinical site.

 The United Kingdom opened STAR-TREC on 12th June 2017 and the 14 clinical sites have recruited 36 patients into the trial.  The Netherlands opened on the 16th June 2017 with the 10 clinical sites recruiting 28 patients to date. Denmark opened on the 2nd February 2018 and the 2 sites have recruited 9 patients between them.
