RWARP is a large, simple randomised trial based on the ‘uncertainty principle’ and aims to produce reliable evidence of the utility of warfarin (no warfarin [arm A] vs. warfarin) in cancer patients with CVCs.  Differing doses of warfarin in thrombosis prophylaxis will also be investigated - fixed dose warfarin (1mg/day) [arm B] vs. an individualised dose of warfarin (to maintain INR between 1.5 and 2.0) [arm C].  Randomising 1400 patients to this trial will produce reliable evidence of both utility and optimal dose. The primary endpoint of the trial is the number of thrombotic events (confirmed radiologically). The secondary endpoints are catheter longevity, cost, trial-related toxicity and patient survival across the three arms

Please note that the trials team cannot give individual’s clinical advice. Patients and their families should contact their treating physician to discuss trials for which they may be eligible
