New open call for Turing Fellows

Applications are now open for The Alan Turing Institute’s new Turing Fellow scheme

Turing Fellows are the next generation of world leading researchers. They have proven research excellence in data science, artificial intelligence, or a related field, and research interests aligned to the Turing’s Science and Innovation priorities outlined in the Institute Strategy. Turing Fellowships are aimed at established researchers with the potential to be the next generation of world leaders. They have made important contributions to their research area, are likely leading a programme of research, and have significant postdoctoral research experience.

 What do I need to apply?

  • Head of School/Director of Institute approval.
    (letter of support is not required for the application)
  • Support from Birmingham’s Turing Academic Lead, Prof Slava Jankin, via the expression of interest form below.

Please complete this internal expression of interest – Expression of Interest - Turing Fellow - 2023 Call

Expressions of Interest will be reviewed to provide support, feedback and advice to applicants.
Important considerations for applications;

  • Applications are from ‘established researchers with the potential to be the next generation of world leaders’, who have a desire to actively engage with the Turing and the Turing University Network members.
  • Applicants have research interests which align with the Turing’s Grand Challenges, or cross-cutting core capabilities, and the Turing’s Science and Innovation priorities outlined in the Institute Strategy

We would encourage applications that;

  • Support increasing the breadth of UoB disciplines which engage with the Turing and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI (IIDSAI).
  • Support increasing representation in under-represented groups in Data Science and AI, within the Birmingham Turing Fellow group.

 Timeline for Expressions of Interest;

  • Rolling process, please complete no later than 14 September 17.00.

If you have any questions, or would like to speak to a current Turing Fellow about their experience, please contact us on – turingliaison@contacts.bham.ac.uk  or connect with IIDSAI on teams - Institute for Interdisciplinary Data Science & AI
