Promote inclusion, equality and diversity in the workplace

"Businesses and corporate organisations should ensure inclusion, equality and diversity (IED) are considered in the workplace for leadership positions. Diversity is the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc. Inclusion is the practice or policy of providing equal access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized, such as those who have physical or mental disabilities and members of other minority groups. Equality means equal job opportunities and fairness for employees and job applicants. Workers should not be treated unfairly because of a person's sex, age, or race. Businesses and corporate organisations should take the following actions in practicing IED.

1. Have diverse representation in leadership and critical roles in the organisation

2. Strengthen the leadership accountability and capability for IED in the organisation

3. Enable equality of opportunities through fairness and transparency. zero tolerance for bullying and discriminatory behaviours. Organisations should enact, penalise and reward equally.

4. Foster a sense of belonging through support for multivariant diversity such as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) community"

Practise inclusion, equality and diversity in higher institutions

The University of Leeds has developed an equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) plan including a 10-year strategy that exclusively focuses on sustainable development goals. The EDI plan is comprehensive and ensures that the school is inclusive of underrepresented minority groups where appropriate. It ensures that the voices of minority groups are being heard and that they have a sense of belonging. It also highlights the need to recognise the individual systematic biases that exist within higher education institutions.

From Stigma to Safety: The Signal for Help Responder Campaign

The Signal for Help is a simple campaign launched in 2020 in Canada, with the signal referring to a one-hand gesture that you can make to show somebody that you need them to check in with you safely and not leave a digital trace. It is hand up, thumbs in, and trap thumb. The Signal Responder campaign was launched in 2022 and is an online journey that anybody can sign up for, providing tools and training to people who might witness abuse or know that something is going on but don't know what to do.
