The role of the inflammatory microenvironment in liver fibrosis and cancer

Group leader: Dr Shishir Shetty

Overview

Shishir's group is studying the role of the innate and adaptive immune system in mediating liver fibrosis and carcinogenesis.  The research focus is on the regulation of leucocyte recruitment to the liver and the role of novel adhesion molecules including scavenger receptors. He is also studying how scavenger receptors influence the tissue microenvironment in fibrosis and cancer. The overall aim is to identify new targets of therapy for inflammatory liver disease and primary liver cancer.cever2
