Measuring and valuing the wellbeing of family carers

with Hareth Al-Janabi PhD, Professor of Health Economics, Institute of Applied Health Research

"Healthcare services can impact not only the patient, but also their family carers. This talk will summarise my recent work developing tools to measure the impact of (mental) healthcare delivery on family carers. I will also discuss the mechanisms behind impacts on carer wellbeing, and why such impacts are important to consider in decisions about healthcare provision."

Professor Hareth Al-Janabi is a Senior Lecturer in health economics with experience in academic research and policy analysis. Professor Al-Janabi recently held a NIHR career development fellowship leading a research programme to develop economic evaluation methodology to include family carer outcomes. Professor Al-Janabi’s research interests include the measurement of wellbeing and preferences, the role of informal care in the health system, the economics of mental health, and research methods in health economics.
