Title

"Sex-dependent mechanisms of adrenal aging & cancer”

Speaker

Dr Katlin Basham, The University of Utah, Huntsman Cancer Institute

Host

Dr Cristina Ronchi, Reader in Endocrine Oncology

About the talk

Aging is a carcinogen that markedly increases cancer risk, yet we have limited understanding of the factors that contribute to cancer initiation in aged cells. This talk will focus on the intersection between aging and cancer in the adrenal gland. This work reveals sex-dependent differences in the aging response that may provide new therapeutic targets for the treatment of adrenal cancer.

About the speaker

Dr Katie Basham is an Assistant Professor at the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah. Her lab studies mechanisms of development, aging, and cancer in the adrenal gland, with a focus on the interaction between genetic alterations and the aged tissue microenvironment.
