Babies Born Before Arrival

It is thought that the number of babies born unexpectedly away from hospital is increasing, although we don’t know the reason for this. We know little about the views of those who experience this kind of birth, or the impact it has on them. We also know little about the views of those who provide care for women or birthing people who have a BBA, or the impact on ambulance and maternity services.
We will explore the numbers of these births in the East and West Midlands, and the views of people who have experienced them. We want to hear people’s unique experiences of the birth(s), so we can try to do more work to improve care in this area.
Get involved
We are looking to speak to women, birthing people and their birthing partners about their experiences. If you are interested in taking part, then please complete this survey and the researcher will contact you.
We would also like to speak with both ambulance clinicians and midwives about their experiences of supporting and caring for women who have a BBA. If you are interested in taking part, please complete this survey and we will be in touch.
