Permanent Secretary for BEIS visits Railway Centre

Alex Chisholm, Permanent Secretary for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), visited the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) to meet the Centre’s leading digital railway experts, and discover cutting-edge technology in the railway laboratories.

Leading the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Mr Chisholm learned about the Centre’s pioneering digital systems, maintenance and railway research, and learned how researchers are tackling these issues directly to develop the railways of the future.

The Centre’s world-class research is having impact across the globe, revolutionising the railway as a safe, fast, high capacity, and environmentally and customer friendly transport mode.

By studying in depth what is happening across the world's railways, the Centre prepare graduates for the challenges of the future.
