Laurent Pfister is a hydrologist at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), where he leads the Environmental Sensing and Modelling research unit. He is also an Affiliated Professor in Environmental Sciences at the University of Luxembourg and Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham (UK). His research interests focus on the holistic understanding of hydrological systems in a context of global change. He has worked on innovative technologies, such as thermal IR imagery for mapping saturated area dynamics, terrestrial diatoms as hydrological tracers, and freshwater mussels for reconstructing past signatures of stream water d18O.
