This international gathering of leading Shakespeare scholars is held every two years, in the summer.
About 180 members meet every other year to hear papers and participate in seminars on a chosen theme. Due to space limitations, membership is by invitation. New invitations are issued to each conference through a nomination process that involves the full ISC membership (made up of some 500 academics who have attended the conference in recent years). All of our members are invited to nominate colleagues whose work has made a significant impact on the field of Shakespeare scholarship. Usually this means the publication of a particularly influential monograph or equivalent, or a leading contribution to the development of Shakespeare studies in a particular nation, region, or language. We are committed to having a diverse and international membership and we encourage nominations that take this into consideration.
The dates of the next International Shakespeare Conference will be released shortly.
