Belong at Birmingham - Societies and groups

Whether you're looking to connect with others who share your cultural heritage, explore new interests, or simply find a sense of belonging, there's a place for you here. Our societies celebrate the rich African and Caribbean cultures through various events, from educational workshops and social gatherings to exciting football matches and dance sessions.
When I first moved to Birmingham, I felt a little lost, new country, new people, and for the first time, a real sense of being ‘away from home.’ But stepping into my first East African Society event felt like stepping right back into familiar warmth. I’ll never forget the laughter from our first game night and the sense of community that grew from those little moments. Beyond just the socials, EASoc has been a space where we celebrate our cultures, from music and food and what it means to be East African in the diaspora. I didn’t just make friends here; I found a second home.
