Teaching and research in Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology at Birmingham covers a vast range of interdisciplinary topics from life in Pharaonic Egypt to the study of Greek love poetry, slavery in Greece and Rome, and even age and ageing at Rome. Dig into the mapping the ancient city, studies of Egyptian, Greek and Roman religion, and the reception of the classical world in film and modern culture.
I researched and presented my own project on modern theatre productions of Medea using the University of Oxford’s archives. It has been a highlight of final year so far, and highlighted just how relevant female characters from myth are today – still used to explore issues of gender, morality, and the human condition.
