College funding opportunities

College of Arts and Law Masters Scholarships (all subjects)

The College of Arts and Law offers several Home fees-only scholarships for applicants who want to study full- and part-time masters-level courses from September 2025.

International students are eligible to apply, and will receive a reduction in tuition fees equivalent to the Home rate, if successful.

Applications for funding can only be considered alongside an application to study.

The Amphlett Scholarship (Theology and Religion)

The Amphlett Fund is committed to advancing the education of overseas students in the subject of Theology. The Amphlett Scholarship supports Masters Level (Taught) students by covering up to 100% of their tuition fees (at Overseas (Non-EU) rates).

The Islam Scholarship (MA Islamic Studies)

The Islam Fund supports the study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations at University of Birmingham. The Islam Scholarship supports Masters level (taught) Islamic Studies students by covering up to 100% of their tuition fees (at home or overseas rates).

The William Paton scholarship (Theology and Religion)

The William Paton Fund supports teaching and education in the subjects of Theology and Religion. The William Paton Scholarship supports Masters Level (Taught) students by covering up to 100% of their tuition fees (at home or overseas rates).

William Paton MA Stipends in Global Philosophy of Religion

Across two academic years (2025-2026 and 2026-2027) we are offering 10 stipends of £2,000 each to international or home students on the MA program in Philosophy of Religion Ethics who choose the Global Philosophy of Religion Pathway.

Edna Pearson Scholarship (History)

The Edna Pearson Scholarship is funded from a bequest by the late Mary Frances Collins. It offers a variable contribution to tuition fees (no higher than the full UK homes tuition fee rate) to either a taught or research Masters student in the Department of History.

Harding International Legal Scholarship (LLM pathways)

£5,000 scholarships to international/EU students on the LLM programme.

Recipients of the Harding International Legal Scholarship are offered a tailored package to support professional and personal development:

  • £5,000 financial scholarship as a fee waiver
  • An introductory meeting with Birmingham Law School Staff
  • Professional profile on the Birmingham Law School webpages
  • Membership of the Birmingham Law Society

Awards vary in value, and are available to students taking our Masters programmes in September 2025:
