Hi, I'm Lorna, a BA Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics final year student at the University of Birmingham!

Alongside my degree I also work as a student ambassador for my school, helping organise events and socialising with people from the department.

As well as this, I also volunteer part time for a charity as a Co-ordinator, and am a member of IFA (Intersectional Feminist Association).

How did you choose your degree subject?

I chose my subject based on my interests in school, I was very close between PRE and another humanities subject, but decided to follow my interests and passions in learning about philosophy, religion, and ethical decision-making!

Best module?

My favourite module I have studied has to be either 'Dharmic Religions and Traditions' or 'Sex Ethics'! I found both of these modules so interesting as they offered new perspectives and insights into topics I was already interested in. Regarding the 'Dharmic Religions...' module, I really enjoyed the trip that we went on to the Gurdwara Sahib in Birmingham!

What's the most underrated spot in Birmingham?

Hanbao in Digbeth, BEST FOOD EVER!

What's one piece of advice you can share for incoming students?

Remember that the university experience looks different for everyone, so try not to hold yourself to a standard of how you think University should be.

Although it might be scary, try and throw yourself into as many new opportunities as possible that arise. Everyone is just as nervous as you!
