Sensory programmes at Birmingham

For those passionate about making a difference

Our MA/PGDip Sensory Impairment programme offers flexible, part-time blended learning for professionals who want to make a real difference to children and young people (0–25) who are deaf, vision impaired, or have multi-sensory impairments.

With three specialist pathways, the programme is designed for qualified teachers and educational or care professionals working in diverse national and international settings. It equips you with the knowledge and skills to support children and young people with sensory impairments effectively.

Our programme combines online and in-person learning to provide a rich, interactive experience:

  • Online live classes: Meet your teaching team and fellow students, and receive a step-by-step guide to your first module.
  • Group work and seminars: Each module includes real-time opportunities to collaborate, discuss key topics, share insights, and reflect on workplace experiences.
  • Study weekends: Four mandatory weekends at the School of Education (dates for 2025–26 to be confirmed).
