Sensory programmes at Birmingham

Our postgraduate sensory impairment programme enables professionals to develop the specialist expertise required to support children and young people (0–25) who are deaf, vision impaired or have multi‑sensory impairments.
Tailored for qualified teachers and education or care practitioners working in diverse national and international contexts, these three flexible, part‑time specialist pathways provide a high‑quality route to advanced professional development in sensory impairment.
Our programme combines online and in-person learning to provide a rich, interactive experience:
- Online live classes: Meet your teaching team and fellow students, and receive a step-by-step guide to your first module.
- Group work and seminars: Each module includes real-time opportunities to collaborate, discuss key topics, share insights, and reflect on workplace experiences.
- Study weekends: Four mandatory weekends at the School of Education (dates for 2025–26 to be confirmed).
