Before you travel checklist

Check before you travel

If you’re ready to start packing, it’s worth checking what you need to do before you head to the UK. After all, it’s much easier to check now, than find you’ve forgotten something when you arrive.

Ready to Go Checklist

1. Complete your Online Registration

This is where you confirm you’ll be studying with us and agree to abide by our regulations. We know that sounds quite formal, but they’re just common sense rules that benefit everyone. When you register, you’ll confirm your personal and programme details, plus how your tuition fees will be funded. You’ll also upload a passport-style photo for your student ID. So if you haven’t got one yet, now’s a good time to take one.

To complete your registration, simply use the link below. You’ll also find more details on how the process works, along with help if you’re having any trouble.

If you can’t access Online Registration due to a disability, please call our Online Registration Helpline on +44 (0)121 414 9009 or email us using Student Help.

2. Complete My Right to Study

As an international student, you’ll need to prove you have the right to study in the UK and at the University of Birmingham. My Right to Study lets you upload documents for the International Student Team to check. Each time you upload a document, they’ll contact you to let you know if it’s been approved or rejected. If it’s rejected, they’ll tell you why and explain which document to upload instead.

When everything is uploaded and checked, you’ll get a confirmation email you can keep in case you need it. Then you’ll be good to start your studies.

3. Download the MyUoB app

From viewing timetables to finding your way around campus, the MyUoB app has everything you need to make life easier when you arrive. But it’s worth getting before you set off, as it gives you access to all emails and other important information, as well as a live campus map, so you’re ready before you arrive.

It’s available for undergraduates and postgraduates with a separate dashboard for postgraduate researchers.

Why get the app:
