Welcome and orientation

We can’t wait to welcome you

There’s a lot to think about before you’re ready to start university. Here we talk more about the Welcome period, so you know what to expect.

Look out for our Welcome emails

Before you join us, we’ll start sending you weekly Welcome emails to help you get ready for September. Don’t worry if you don’t know your results yet. You’ll get the emails anyway so make sure you check your emails regularly.

We’ll tell you all about arriving at the University, the events and activities we have planned and any information from your School or College.

Welcome events

You can view our Welcome Timetable from late August onwards. It’s a good idea to check it early, so you can start to plan the events you’d like to attend during Welcome Week.

Things to do in September

  • Our handy packing list will help you plan what to bring with you. Check the inventory for your accommodation, and if you’re living in University halls, don’t worry about home insurance, it’s already included. Find out more about inventories and insurance.
  • Complete your Online Registration before you arrive at the University.
  • If you’re an undergraduate student, you’ll get your academic timetable in mid-September. You can find it on the MyUoB app.
