
Future Skills Scholarship Terms and Conditions

The Future Skills Scholarship offers automatic scholarships worth up to £12,500 to eligible students studying select taught Masters degrees in the 2026/27 academic year.
Terms and Conditions
All Future Skills Scholarship offers are bound by the below terms and conditions which you should familiarise yourself with.
If your application is successful, all offers are based upon the terms and conditions of the scholarship and further eligibility checks will be undertaken. All offers are made upon the assumption that any and all information submitted is truthful and accurate; the scholarship can and will be revoked if applicants are found to be in violation of the scholarship's terms and conditions at any point.
1. Eligibility
The Future Skills Scholarship will automatically be available to students who meet all of the following criteria:
- Permanently living in (domiciled in) India: Only students who are permanently living in (domiciled in) India are eligible for the scholarship.
- International fee eligibility: Only students who are classified as eligible for international tuition fee payments will be offered the scholarship.
- Studying one of the eligible postgraduate taught Masters degrees full-time on the Birmingham, UK campus in the 2026/27 academic year: Only students studying on one of the following courses are eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must not already be studying a postgraduate taught degree at the University of Birmingham.
- MSc Business Analytics
- MSc Marketing
- MSc Data Science
- MSc Advanced Engineering Management (and all pathways)
- MPH Public Health
- MSc Molecular Biotechnology
- MA International Relations
- Any LLM (Law) course (excluding LLM Energy and Environmental Law (Online))
- Have received and accepted an unconditional offer by 30 April 2026: Only applicants who have received and accepted their unconditional offer by the deadline will be offered the automatic scholarship; this includes paying the required deposit and meeting all academic offer conditions by the deadline.
- Self-funding: Only students who are self-funding their studies will be eligible for the scholarship. This scholarship cannot be held in conjunction with any other scholarship or funding provided by the University of Birmingham. Students who are receiving full or partial scholarships or sponsorship from a third-party organisation are ineligible.
- Have an application associated with one of our authorised agent partners or partnered institutes: Only students who meet one of the below conditions are eligible for the scholarship:

Applications for the eligible Masters degrees must be submitted before the deadline; late applications will not be considered.
If the scholarship has already been awarded and/or is noted on your CAS, the University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship if it later becomes aware of information that makes the student ineligible.
2. Payment
The value of the Future Skills Scholarship is worth up to £12,500 depending on the course being studied; see the below table for the exact value per course. This will be paid as a discount on your tuition fee and no part of the award can be made as a cash payment. Only once the awardee has completed Online Registration and is classified as 'Normally Registered' will the discount be applied. Online Registration should be completed by 3 October 2026 (23:59 UK time/GMT+1).
The Future Skills Scholarship is tenable for 12 months at the University of Birmingham and cannot be deferred.

3. Termination
In any of the circumstances set out below the Future Skills Scholarship will be withdrawn and you will receive no (or no further) payments from the University:
- If you permanently leave the University due to illness (whether or not following a Leave of Absence under the University’s Code of Practice on Leave of Absence procedures);
- If you leave the University voluntarily for reasons other than illness;
- If you are required to withdraw from the University due to disciplinary or fitness to practise proceedings;
- If you fail to complete satisfactorily the requirements of your programme;
- If you void any of the eligibility criteria of the scholarship.
The University reserves the right to demand the repayment of any instalment or instalments (or part thereof) of the Future Skills Scholarship paid to you in circumstances 2 or 3 set out above.
4. Leave of Absence
In the event that you take, or are required to take, a Leave of Absence during the academic year any Future Skills Scholarship payments still due will be suspended until you return from your Leave of Absence and re-register as a normally registered student with the University.
Upon re-registering you will be paid the balance of any instalments due from the academic year when the Leave of Absence was taken.
If you fail to return to the University after a Leave of Absence then the Future Skills Scholarship will be terminated and you will receive no (or no further) payments from the University, as outlined above.
