    Latest research in the Department

New research reveals a 3,500-year-old suit of Mycenaean armour may have been used in battle and not just for ceremonial purposes as previously thought. The research was conducted by an international team of researchers, including Dr Ken Wardle, Senior Lecturer in Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology.

Activity in the Department

The University of Birmingham is home to a collection of over 2000 objects from ancient Egypt, Persia, Greece, and Rome in our Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology Museum. In November 2023, we opened up the museum to the public for a series of events as part of the 2023 Being Human festival.

"What I appreciate the most about this course is the seminar-style of delivering the modules rather than the usual lectures and the regular mid-week seminars on various research topics of professors."
