My research area looks at the identity formation of LGBTQ+ individuals, specifically lesbians, and how society’s heterosexual norms impact their processes of self-discovery. I chose Birmingham because the staff in the department provide the perfect support for my project.

    Last year, the University of Birmingham hosted a Trans/Queer: Symposium and Networking Day attended by UK and international academic staff plus postgraduate research students.

    The networking day was to discuss how to further build trans studies in the UK and how it might relate to fields like queer and feminist studies.
