Internships for Chinese students in the School of Education

Students joining one of the following programmes at the University of Birmingham in September 2026 have the opportunity to undertake a high-quality internship with a reputable employer in China, including: MA Education, MA Educational Leadership and Management and MSc TESOL Education
The University works collaboratively with mShare, a leading China-based internship provider, to offer 20 internship placements exclusively for our Chinese postgraduate students on a first-come-first-served basis.
What to expect
M:Share works with a wide network of employers across multiple sectors in major Chinese cities. Examples of companies where m:Share has previously placed Education students include the TAL Education Group and New Oriental Education.
Internships are available in Summer 2026 (before you begin your Master’s programme) or Summer 2027 (after you graduate).
Whenever you choose to intern, it is an opportunity to gain the kind of practical experience that employers are looking for.
What does it cost?
What does it cost?
Internships are free of charge for you as a School of Education Master’s student.
Once you have registered with m:Share, you can decide whether you prefer to pay an additional £550 towards your tuition fee to get instant approval and start working with m:Share right away, or whether you prefer to wait to be approved after you enrol* on your Master’s degree in September.
*“Enrol” in these terms means completing your registration for your Master's degree, including your Right to Study check on campus.
How to secure your internship
How to secure your internship
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so timing matters.
To be eligible for an internship, you'll need to have accepted your offer for a Master's programme in the School of Education and paid your tuition deposit.
Essential:
Register your details on the m:Share website as soon as possible: https://pages.shixiseng.com/html/bham-mshare-register.html
Optional (if you want to start working with m:Share right away):
- Ensure that you have accepted your offer for your Master’s degree and paid your £3000 tuition deposit
- Pay an additional £550 towards your Master’s tuition fee through this link: https://intranet.birmingham.ac.uk/student/academic-support/student-fees/pay-your-fees-here.aspx
Please note:
- This is not an additional payment on top of your tuition fee. It is a payment towards your tuition fee. When you enrol on your Master’s programme in September 2026, you will see that the outstanding balance on your tuition fee is reduced by £550.
- If you do not enrol on your Masters programme in the School of Education in September 2026, this £550 payment will be non-refundable in all circumstances. The policies relating to a refund of your tuition fee deposit do not apply to this payment.
- If you need to defer your Master’s studies until September 2027, the £550 payment will be non-refundable in all circumstances. However, you will see that it has been credited to your tuition fee balance when you enrol on your Master’s programme in September 2027.
Please only pay the additional £550 towards your tuition fee if you agree to these terms.
What happens next?
- We will approve your registration with m:Share as soon as we see that you have paid your £550 tuition fee contribution, or when you have enrolled at Birmingham in September
- m:Share will be in touch with you shortly afterwards to start discussing your career aspirations and making plans to match you with an internship
