Our postgraduate programmes in Modern Languages will allow you to develop your career in translation and interpreting as well as further your research in to a variety of areas. With expertise in French, German, Hispanic, Italian, Russian, Translation Studies, Comparative Literature and Sexuality and Gender Studies you will be studying in one of the top 150 Modern Language departments in the world (QS 2021).

Our flagship programme is the flexible and industry ready MA in Translation Studies, which will allow you to discover the art of translation within a global community of translators. Our MA in English-Chinese Interpreting with Translation is ideal for those looking to embark on careers as professional interpreters, combining interpreting theory and practice - with teaching taking place in a state-of-the-art Interpreting Suite.
Our lively postgraduate community also offers excellent routes in to research within five European Languages: French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. New and innovative research projects are constantly developed by staff and postgraduates, and there is regular programme of research seminars. We support students not only in research, but in giving successful papers and planning their careers – a much more holistic approach than that usually provided elsewhere.
