Our CPD courses range from two days up to 12 weeks of part-time study. Teaching can take place in person or online or sometimes a mix of both. You may study over a weekend or throughout the week depending on your chosen course.
Most of our CPD courses are postgraduate level modules, without the requirement of completing a formal assessment at the end of the course. This means you could be taught alongside full Masters or Postgraduate Microcredential students.
Why study CPD?
Our CPD courses enable you to boost your skills, whilst learning from experts, empowering you to get ahead in your field.
For 33 years I taught English and Drama in secondary schools and have been attending the RSC summer school since 1986. At the first summer school, I told myself that one day I would do the Shakespeare Institute MA having taught EFL abroad for a year instead of completing a Masters after my undergraduate course. Having retired, I wanted to see if I could manage deadlines and writing assignments. I also wanted to test the quality of the course before signing up for more.
Study something you love
As well as gaining the practical skills you need to stay up to date in your chosen field, you may wish to study a CPD course just because you enjoy the subject area.
Explore Shakespeare
Our ‘Spring into Shakespeare’ and ‘Fall in with Shakespeare’ courses offer you the chance to develop a strong understanding of key concepts relating to the study of Shakespeare, such as language, genre, early modern playing practices, and contemporary performance.
CPD can be used to upskill and develop in your career, as a pathway back into education and onto one our Masters programmes or for exploring a new subject or topic.
