This microcredential focuses on the diagnosis of cancer and explores traditional histopathological evaluation and highlight and examine the impact of new technologies.
This microcredential is a core module on the MSc Clinical Oncology programme, an optional module on the MRes Cancer Sciences programme and can also be taken on a stand-alone basis for CPD purposes.
The course will focus on diagnosis of cancer with an emphasis on molecular testing and the role of histopathology in the stratification of cancer patients. It will compare and contrast traditional histopathological evaluation with molecular testing as prognostic and predictive markers. The module will also highlight new technologies, especially in Next Generation Sequencing, and will consider how these are already impacting on routine diagnostic histopathology.
