Exclusive careers support for Chinese graduates
Chinese students at Birmingham have access to a wide range of careers support before, during and after your degree. You'll benefit from careers advice, specialist workshops, careers fairs, CV guidance and support to find work experience and internships.
Graduates from China now have access to our partnership with JOBShaigui - a leading graduate support organisation in China. They will help you find jobs with top employers in China and give you the competitive advantage over other graduates in the market.
How Careers Network will support you
Our Careers Network team support students with realising their aspirations. Our new Student Employability Manager in China, Jill Liang, will be responsible for delivering a programme of activities that enhance career outcomes for returning graduates to China.
Jill will be providing opportunities for students and graduates to access internship and job opportunities with top Chinese employers. This will include building strong networks across China, creating new job opportunities for our graduates and ensuring our graduates will have access to the best jobs and internships.
Our close partnerships with top employers in China help us to understand what Chinese employers are looking for from recent graduates. We use this information to support students with gaining these employability skills while studying at Birmingham.

JOBShaigui is a recruitment platform designed to help returning overseas students find job opportunities in China. As a Chinese graduate, you will have access to:

Autumn 2025 careers events
There are two events planned for the autumn, with a JOBShaigui careers fair taking place exclusively for University of Birmingham and University of Glasgow graduates in:
- Guangzhou - 25 October 2025.
- Beijing - 8 November 2025.
At these careers fairs, we will welcome 50 employers, who will support our graduates with understanding what job opportunities are available and how to maximise success in applications. All University of Birmingham graduates will receive invitations to these events.
My experience at the University of Birmingham laid a strong foundation for my current role in the marketing-related field within the industry. It also helped sharpen my critical thinking and intercultural communication skills, which are essential in today’s global workplace. The University’s alumni network in China has been incredibly supportive — regular gatherings have allowed me to build meaningful professional connections and gain insights into career opportunities from fellow graduates.
