Why did you apply to study Medicine at Birmingham?

I chose to study medicine in the UK because of it's strong international reputation for high-quality medical education, early clinical exposure, and emphasis on evidence-based practice. I chose Birmingham specifically because it is known to be one of the best medicine programme in the country. As a UoB medic we also have access to many research opportunities, giving us early exposure to research experience. University of Birmingham is also one of the recognised medical school by the Singapore health organisation, which makes transition to practice back home a lot easier.

What has your overall experience as a student been like so far?

I think overall, I enjoy my student life here at Birmingham. The campus is really one of the best I have ever seen, with top tier facilities and many study spaces available throughout the campus. I will recommend people to come and study here!

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying Medicine?

Just go for it! Studying medicine can be a daunting thought as the journey to become a doctor can be quite long and difficult, which is true and I don't want to sugar-coat it. However, the satisfaction you gain from the knowledge learned and interactions with patients on placement just make this journey a lot better. The friendships made throughout also made my life here in Birmingham a lot more enjoyable.
