Before coming to university, I was most excited about moving into the accommodations provided by the University of Birmingham. I couldn't wait to move out and move into my new home for the next year. Preparing for moving in was the most exciting as I bought my new cutlery and cookware sets and decided how I would want my room to look. I was also excited but nervous to meet my flatmates as I didn't know what to expect. I decided to decorate the minute I moved in to make the room more homely and this helped me tremendously with getting comfortable living alone in a new city with new people.Living in student halls has helped me a lot with making new friends as my newfound freedom helped me get out of my comfort zone and try out new things with new people. Within the first week I had made friends that are still my closest friends even as the year ends. My flatmates were all kind and clean people so even though I had to share toilets I found that they were kept clean most of the time and so was the kitchen. There have never been any major problems in my flat about any issues such as loud noise complaints or cleanliness issues.Pritchatt's Park also has a reception which provides help for us at any time, and they also have a 24hr launderette for us to do our laundry at any time we found suitable for us.Making the decision to move into student halls was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and it really helped me a lot with growing as a person and with making friends. Although it might not be for everyone to move out of their homes this was the best thing I've done for myself, and I hope for other students to feel like this too.
