So, 'What is an Offer-Holder Visit Day?'

If you have received an offer to study Pharmacy at Birmingham, you will get the chance to explore university in more depth during an Offer-Holder Visit Day. You will spend half a day in the Medical School with Pharmacy staff and students and the other half exploring campus and accommodation.

This exclusive event will provide you with a variety of insights that you won’t want to miss out on… So, let’s start with what are the key things you will miss, if you didn't attend.

Taster lectures, talks and workshops

Throughout the day, you’ll enjoy tailored Pharmacy talks, explore our dedicated laboratories, and get involved in interactive, hands-on workshops. The day will conclude with a taster lecture, giving you real insight into what you will be learning as a future Pharmacy student. I know “taster lecture” might sound a bit boring, but it could actually help you discover your learning style, and there’s a good chance you’ll find the topic genuinely interesting! All of this these activities are a great way for you to experience life as a Pharmacy student first-hand!

Chat to your future professors

Meeting professionals and having meaningful conversations about your goals and future ambitions is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. It allows you to get answers to your questions and hear directly from those who have experienced studying Pharmacy as well as those who teach it. This is invaluable insight to help you make your final decision on where to study.

Meet your future classmates

Not only will you get the chance to meet professors and other professionals on your course, but you’ll also have the opportunity to start forming friendships with your future fellow students. Whether you share similar interests, hobbies, or cultural backgrounds (or come from completely different ones!), this is an opportunity to build meaningful, long‑lasting connections before your course even begins. Making new friends doesn’t have to be difficult; having genuine conversations with new or current students can help you feel part of a warm, welcoming community.

Explore campus!

Maybe making friends isn’t your priority right now and that’s completely fine. There’s still so much more to experience! Exploring the campus has always felt like an adventure to me. It’s huge, full of character, and absolutely worth a tour. Getting to know the different accommodation options, discovering societies, and soaking in the campus “vibe” can be just as exciting.

Of course, alongside all the fun, there are some important practical aspects to the day as well. The transition to university can be challenging for anyone, so taking time to learn about the next steps is key. Speaking with student services to get your questions answered, finding out about placement or internship opportunities, and learning how your career could develop, all of this can help you feel more prepared and confident as you move into university life.

So, what are you waiting for? Make sure you don’t miss out!
