How to book your offer-holder visit day
How to book your offer-holder visit day
If the department you have applied to runs offer-holder visit days, you'll receive an invitation via email shortly after you are made an offer. This will link to a booking form to sign up for an event at a date and time that suits you. We’ll send you a confirmation email within 24 hours of receiving your booking. If you don't receive an email within 24 hours, please check your junk/spam folder in the first instance, and if you can't find booking details, please get in touch with your department.
Many subject areas hold offer-holder events whilst others conduct interview days instead. We'll always keep in touch with you via email after you've made your application.
Tips to plan your day
Tips to plan your day
- Each offer-holder visit day is run by individual departments so be sure to check your schedule provided in your confirmation and reminder emails to see what time the sessions are running.
- Alongside subject activities, we also host a range of other activities to help you feel better prepared for university. These take place between 9am and 4pm and will include opportunities such as viewing accommodation and speaking with our range of dedicated support services.
- Our campus is one of the largest in the UK so it can take 10-15 minutes to walk from one side of campus to the other. We would encourage you to allow enough time to walk to your activities to ensure you make the most of your day.
- When it's time to refuel, head to one of our catering outlets around campus. From spicy burritos and salad bowls to takeaway sandwiches and sweet treats, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Bringing your family and friends
Bringing your family and friends
You're welcome to bring parents/carers with you to share your offer-holder visit day experience. Please be aware that some activities will be for students only and others may only allow one guest depending on room capacities. For any student-specific activities, there are talks, activities and discussion opportunities provided for family or friends who come along with you whilst these take place.
You only need to make one booking to cover yourself and your guests. Please use the name and email address of the prospective student when making your booking.
We welcome dogs on campus and they are permitted in all outside spaces.
Explore Birmingham city centre
Explore Birmingham city centre
Cadbury’s chocolate, The Bullring, Peaky Blinders, the Balti – all things synonymous with our city. Yet Birmingham has so much more to offer than this. We are so proud of our city and our students love being close to the hustle and bustle it has to offer.
Our campus is only seven minutes from the city centre by train, so there's plenty of time to visit after your offer-holder visit day is over. There's lots of lovely places to grab a bite to eat before you head home.

Train travel
Train travel
The easiest way to reach the University is by train. Birmingham is the only University campus in mainland UK to have its own railway station – ‘University’ station. The journey takes approximately 7 minutes from Birmingham New Street .
Please note: the new redeveloped University railway station opened in January 2024; the former station building is now exit-only and cannot be used to gain access onto the platforms. Passengers wishing to enter the station should do so via the entrances in the new station building. This is to help control the flow of passengers through the station and avoid queues. If you are visiting the new station building for the first time, please allow additional time to familiarise yourself with the new entrance/exit arrangements.
For up-to-date information on train times and prices, please contact National Rail.
Coach and bus travel
Coach and bus travel
There are frequent express coach services to Birmingham from London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports and many other UK cities. The long-distance coach station is in Digbeth in the city centre. This is just a 12-minute walk from Birmingham New Street station or a 15-minute taxi ride to our Edgbaston campus.
If you are travelling from within the West Midlands, then the following bus services stop at different parts of the University’s main Edgbaston campus, as well as the Vale Village accommodation site and the Selly Oak campus.
Bus service numbers: 1, 1A, 48, 61, 63, 76, X20, X21, X22
Further information is available on the National Express West Midlands website.
Clean Air Zone in Birmingham
Clean Air Zone in Birmingham
Clean Air Zones have been introduced to cities across the UK, including Birmingham. Unlike a congestion charge, such as the one in London which charges every vehicle to enter a designated area, the Clean Air Zone will only charge the most polluting vehicles. If you are travelling through the centre of Birmingham, then you will need to bear this in mind.
For more information and to see if your car is exempt from the Clean Air Zone charge visit the Brum Breathes website.

My favourite part of campus, and the thing that makes it so special, is the atmosphere. It is such an open, welcoming and inclusive space. From relaxing on the Green Heart with great views of Old Joe to watching sports matches down at Bournbrook Pitches, there is always something happening.
