This is to ensure we receive your results as early as possible and can confirm our decision to you as soon as possible after you receive your results on 6 July. You can find all our standard grade requirements on our course pages. While these are in A Level format, we welcome applications from students studying the IB. We will accept a minimum score of 32 points for entry to our undergraduate programmes but some programmes will require certain Higher Level subjects and scores. If applicants do not meet our IB entry requirements we may be able to offer alternative pathways through our Birmingham International Academy foundation programmes.

You can find a standard grade conversion below. If you have any specific questions about grade requirements, you can speak to experts on our live chat.

IB FAQs

Where can I get more information about how IB grades will be awarded this year?
There is lots of really useful information on the IBO website that explains how the award process will work this year.

Will the University accept the IB calculated grade for entry this year?
Yes, we are happy to accept the calculated grade without exams having been sat.

I have put Birmingham as my firm choice, how and when will you receive my results?
If you have put Birmingham as one of your 6 institutions to receive results directly from the IBO (which you can do through your school) then we will receive the results on Sunday 5 July and we will make decisions as soon as possible for when you receive the results on Monday 6 July (typically around 2pm).

If you only have UCAS down as one of your 6 choices then we will receive your results from UCAS on Tuesday 7 July and again we will make decisions as soon as possible after receipt. If you don’t have either Birmingham or UCAS down on your institutions list, you will need to send your results to us directly.

I have my IB results and am looking for a place in Clearing, will you consider me?
Yes, details of what programmes we have available and how to apply can be found in our Clearing Hub.

We are Birmingham.
