How do I decline my place?

If you no longer want your place at with us, you can opt to release yourself from your offer using UCAS Track. . The process is simple, but you will be asked a number of questions to ensure you fully understand what you are doing. You will need to sign into Track and click ‘Decline my place’ and follow the instructions. You will then receive an email confirming your release. If you make a mistake or have changed your mind once you have completed self-release, you will need to contact us but we cannot guarantee to reinstate your place as this may already have been taken by another applicant. You can find out more via the UCAS website.

I want to defer my place, how can I do that?

Only those who have met, or exceeded, in full the conditions of their offer, can defer entry from September 2021 to September 2022. If you have met the terms of your standard offer you can apply to defer by filling out our deferral request form.

Applicants who have not met in full the conditions of their offer and still wish to defer, will normally be required to apply again and be considered alongside new applicants for 2022 entry.

Offer holders who have previously indicated a desire to defer to 2022 entry but now wish to enter in 2021 should contact the Admissions Office using contact details provided in their offer contract. We will not be able to consider such requests where there are no vacancies remaining on your chosen course.

Science Practical Grades

The science practical endorsement for English A levels this year has been awarded within the teacher assessed grades. If it was a requirement of your offer to pass the science practical, then this will have been taken into consideration in our decision on your application.

A note for private candidates:

If the exam centre who provided your assessed grade was not able to make an assessment to award the practical endorsement meaning that you were unable to pass this you may email us at admissions@contacts.bham.ac.uk so that we can take this situation in to account. You will need to provide supporting information from the exam centre.

I want to sit the autumn exams, can I defer my place for 2022?

If you want to sit the autumn exams you will need to reapply for study with us for a September 2022 start. We are unable to allow you to defer a place of study as you currently need to be an unconditional firm offer holder to defer your place of study.
