liysf-visit

On 31st July, students from the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) travelled to Birmingham to find out more about the Phenome Centre and the Institute of Microbiology and Infection

Upon arriving, the group split up into two streams, depending on which area they were particularly interested in. Students who chose to spend the day in the Phenome Centre completed three sessions, focusing on hands-on work and finding out more about what happens at the centre.

Students who visited the Institute of Microbiology and Infection spent the morning 'meeting' microbes, and looking at gram staining, and microscopy in the HAPI lab, while the afternoon covered different infection models in various creatures.

The LIYSF is a two week residential student event held annually in London which attracts 500 of the world’s leading young scientists aged 16-21 years old from more than 75 participating countries.
