Our activities for pupils in Years 7 - 11 are designed to increase motivation for learning and to raise aspirations to pursue study and careers in biomedical science and healthcare.

Year 8 Big Health Quiz

The Health Big Quiz is aimed at students who might be interested in a career in the health professions or in the biomedical science that underpins medical and dental treatments and therapies. Different rounds will focus on different disciplines within the health professions including medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy. The event is designed to help students to understand in more detail the academic requirements and different career opportunities available in a fun and interactive way. Schools can enter up to 4 teams (a maximum of 4 students per team) and there are lots of prizes up for grabs.

The Big Health Quiz runs in the spring term. Have a look at the RAISE page for further details.

Year 9 Healthcare Heroes

Healthcare Heroes is an annual event which is aimed at Year 9 students. The event provides insight into the multitude of different healthcare careers available and will encourage students from groups currently under-represented in these careers, particularly male students, to consider a future in healthcare.

Healthcare Heroes takes place each July and is available for school groups to register – keep an eye on this page (or ask your teacher to do this) for information about how to register or contact us for details

Year 10-13 Dr.eam University Applications Conferences

Led by BWAMS student society

Dr.eam is our flagship series of FREE events for state school students eager to gain an insight into healthcare careers and prepare a competitive Medicine and Dentistry application.

We run four conferences for state school students designed and delivered annually by our dedicated team of current healthcare students -- Dr.eam Senior, Dr.eam Junior, Dr.eam Big and Dr.eam Dentistry. Each conference is aimed at a particular age-group and offers insights relevant to their stage of secondary education.

In addition, Dr.eam Medicine is a free course spanning several weeks delivered by current medical students designed to help students prepare a competitive application for Medicine and provide a real insight into the career.
