How can I contact the team?

For all general queries about becoming an international student at Birmingham, please complete and submit our enquiry form.

Your country representative is Dave Sellars. The team will be happy to answer any queries you might have, please send an email and they will respond as quickly as possible.

The British Council has offices in many countries throughout the world which are able to provide you with advice about studying in the UK. Most offices also have an education library and Internet facilities where you can consult university material. The British Council can also provide advice about funding opportunities.

Undergraduate

Entry requirements for applicants with qualifications from Sweden

Upper Secondary School leaving certificate (Slutbetyg fran Gymnasieskola)

A*AA/AAA = 10 subjects at grade A and the remainder of subjects at grades B or C
AAB/ABB = 9 subjects at grade A and the remainder of subjects at grades B or C
BBB = Majority of subjects at grade B

Min of grade C in English is acceptable in lieu of an English proficiency test.

Postgraduate

Entry requirements for applicants with qualifications from Sweden

Holders of a good Kandidatexamen (Bachelors degree) or Yrkesexamen (Professional Bachelors degree) from a recognised Swedish Higher Education institution with the majority of subjects with a grade of VG (Val godkänd) for 2:1 equivalency, or G (godkänd) for 2:2 equivalency, will be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes.

Holders of a good Kandidatexamen (Bachelors degree) or Yrkesexamen (Professional Bachelors degree) from a recognised Swedish Higher Education institution with the majority of subjects with a grade of VG (Val godkänd), and/or a good Magisterexamen (Masters degree), International Masters degree or Licentiatexamen (comparable to a UK Mphil), will be considered for entry to postgraduate research programmes.

NARIC states that there are a number of different grading systems employed in higher education in Sweden, with many institutions using their own scales. Please see the table below showing some of the main grading systems and indicating our minimum postgraduate entry requirement grade in each:
