PhD Student in Physics and Astronomy

What is your research background and current field of research?
Computational/theoretical condensed matter physics, focusing on simulating electron systems via Exact Diagonalisation.
Which BEAR Services have been most helpful to you in your research?
Access to the supercomputer is what makes the research even possible in the first place, as the problems I am working on require numerics to solve, and are almost impossible to do so on a normal PC. Additionally, support from the RSEs on how to interact with, and get the most out of, the supercomputer has also been invaluable.
How widespread do you think BEAR Services are known in your School and how do you plan to spread the word?
I think most know of BEAR for the supercomputer, or the datastore, but are not aware of how easy these are to set up, how much of an impact they will make on even moderate simulations, or some of the other features offered by BEAR such as the RSEs. To spread the word I plan on placing the provided flyers around the department, and speaking with members of each group to get an idea of the level of engagement people have with BEAR, and will adjust from there.
What's an interesting fact about you?
I spend as much free time as I can scuba diving, all around the country (and when money allows, abroad too).
