About the Centre for Human Brain Health
The Centre for Human Brain Health (CHBH) is committed to pioneering research that transforms our understanding of the human brain and its complex functions. Our mission is to enable basic human neuroscience research and translation. By fostering an inclusive, internationally collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, we bring together world-class researchers from diverse fields to tackle the most pressing challenges in human neuroscience.
We recognise that to achieve the goal of personalised brain health, we must first identify what constitutes a healthy brain and how lifestyle, developmental, and societal factors interact and contribute to this endeavour. With access to a large and diverse local population and through six core research themes, our Centre is excellently positioned to translate these fundamental insights into the human brain, providing a better understanding of it from childhood to late adulthood.
To facilitate our mission, we comprise a vibrant and diverse interdisciplinary neuroscientific community, encompassing Principal Investigators and their lab teams, supported by a team of technical and operational staff. The Centre houses cutting-edge brain imaging facilities and is ideally located on the University's Edgbaston campus, allowing us to conduct interdisciplinary research for academics (internal and external), students, clinicians, and industry professionals.
