Seminar 1: 12 October 2017
The HCRN seminar series got offf to a great start on October 12th when Nicky Morrison from Cambridge University's Department of Land Economy presented an analysis and interpretation of recent mega-mergers in the housing association sector, drawing on the business startegy literature.
The discussant David Stevenson, a graduate of Birmingham University's Housing MBA programme drew on his MBA dissertation on housing association mergers and his own experience of three recent mergers in London and the West Midlands to open up the debate. He welcomed Nicky's contribution and expressed surprise at how few hosing associations took account of the wider business literature such as the need for planning post merger integration. The 20 participants including students, local authorities, housing associations and community housing bodies took part in lively debate which continued in the Staff House bar.
